An unforgettable, sold-out evening of stories, music and shameless namedropping with acclaimed actor David Bradley took place at Nuneaton’s Abbey Theatre on Friday 23 October, raising vital funds for George Eliot Hospital Charity.
The audience enjoyed an exclusive and intimate evening with the much-loved actor on Friday 23 October, celebrating his extraordinary career with behind-the-scenes stories, music, surprises and plenty of fascinating anecdotes from his time in the spotlight.
Best known for his memorable roles as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films and the treacherous Walder Frey in Game of Thrones, David has earned a reputation as one of Britain’s most versatile and respected actors. While often portraying intense, stern or eccentric characters on screen, he is widely described as a lovely man in person, making this a particularly special opportunity for fans to hear the stories behind his remarkable career.
All proceeds from the sold-out event will support George Eliot Hospital Charity’s 30 for 30 campaign, which is raising £30,000 to replace specialist treatment chairs in the hospital’s Dorothea Unit.
The oncology and haematology day unit cares for hundreds of local people every week who attend for chemotherapy and other blood-related treatments. The existing reclining chairs are beginning to show their age, and the charity hopes to replace them with new chairs that will provide greater comfort for patients while bringing a much-needed splash of colour to the unit.
The 30 for 30 campaign celebrates 30 years of George Eliot Hospital Charity, with the aim of making a meaningful difference to patients, their families and hospital staff.
David Bradley said “I hope the money raised from the show helps George Eliot Hospital Charity buy some lovely new chairs for patients receiving oncology and haematology treatment in the Dorothea Unit. The audience made it the best Music, Magic show we’d done so far.”
George Eliot Hospital Charity would like to extend a huge thank you to David Bradley, the Abbey Theatre team and everyone who supported this special event. The sell-out success demonstrates the power of bringing people together through the arts to support a cause that matters to our local community.
Every contribution to the 30 for 30 campaign helps bring the charity closer to its £30,000 target and makes a real difference to people receiving treatment at George Eliot Hospital.
