A Lasting Gift in Memory of Trudy Morris

George Eliot Hospital Charity has received a heartfelt donation of £1,000 to the Dorothea Unit in loving memory of Trudy Morris, generously donated by her husband, Martin Norton.

Trudy, from Atherstone, was diagnosed with bone cancer in January 2024 and spent the next two years undergoing treatment at George Eliot Hospital. She sadly passed away in November 2025, aged 63. Trudy was a devoted wife to Martin and a much-loved mum to their daughter Beckie and son Josh.

Martin shared that he and Trudy had always loved travelling and had planned several long-haul trips together. “Travel was something we both looked forward to so much,” he said. “When Trudy became ill and her mobility reduced, those plans slipped away, and the care she received close to home meant everything to us.”

Trudy received her chemotherapy in the Dorothea Unit, where she felt safe, supported and truly cared for. She had known Oncology Unit Manager Kay Fox for most of her life and always spoke warmly of the whole team. “Trudy always said she felt in good hands,” Martin explained. “The kindness and compassion from everyone on Dorothea never went unnoticed.”

Martin also paid tribute to Consultant Clinical Oncologist Dr Arvind Tripathy, saying, “He always had time for us. We never felt rushed, and that made such a difference during an incredibly difficult time.”

It was Trudy’s wish to give something back to the Dorothea Unit, and Martin said he is honoured to fulfil that wish. “This unit supported Trudy throughout her journey,” he said. “Making this donation feels like a way of saying thank you, in her memory.”

George Eliot Hospital Charity would like to thank Martin and his family for their generosity and for choosing to remember Trudy in such a meaningful and lasting way.
