The Challenge
The Physiotherapy team at George Eliot Hospital identified a need for new equipment in the therapy gym to enhance patient rehabilitation. However, like many departments, accessing additional funding for non-essential but highly beneficial items can be a challenge. Ben Bradford, Physiotherapist approached George Eliot Hospital Charity seeking support to combine fundraising with a meaningful team-building opportunity.
The Solution
Working with GEH Charity, Ben organised a team-building fundraising event by encouraging 20 members of the
Physiotherapy team to take part in the Coventry Inflatable Run, choosing either the 5k or 10k course. The Charity
supported the initiative by securing discounted registration for all participants and promoting the event across its social media channels to help boost awareness and fundraising. The event provided a fun and engaging way to bring colleagues together outside of the workplace, while raising funds through sponsorship from friends and family.

Jamie Ridgway, shared the impact of this support: “Since starting my rehabilitation in January 2025, the support I’ve received has made a real difference, helping me rebuild both my strength and confidence.”
The Results
The event was a great success, creating a memorable and enjoyable team experience while raising enough funds to purchase eight new therapy mats and a jump box for the gym. The new mats are now used during exercise sessions, increasing the range of rehabilitation activities available and supporting improved patient outcomes. The jump box enables therapists to better support patients in the later stages of recovery, particularly in progressing rehabilitation and aiding a safe return to sport.
