Volunteering Officers and Their Daughters Step Up for Charity at Coventry Inflatable 5K

Two dedicated members of the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust Volunteering Team are going the extra mile, and bouncing their way there, as they prepare to take part in this summer’s Coventry Inflatable 5K Run.

Christian Hancox and Marie Gilbert have signed up for the fun-filled 5K event, taking place on 25 July 2026 at the University of Warwick. Adding a special family touch to the challenge, both of their daughters will be joining them on the course.

Marie’s daughter, Aimee, has a strong connection to George Eliot Hospital, having previously volunteered her time to support patients, their families and staff. Meanwhile, Darcy, Christian’s daughter, has already played her part in helping set up foodbank collection points a few years ago. Now, the families are coming together once again to raise vital funds and awareness for George Eliot Hospital Charity’s 30 for 30 campaign.

In the lead-up to the event, Christian and Marie are rallying support from across the volunteer community and beyond. They will be encouraging fellow volunteers, along with friends and family, to either sign up and join the inflatable challenge or show their support through sponsorship.

To boost their fundraising efforts, the pair are also organising a series of activities, including a bake sale on Wednesday 17 June at George Eliot Hospital and a quiz night on Friday 17 July at Griff and Coton Sports and Miners Welfare Club.

Supporters who would like to contribute cakes for the bake sale, attend the quiz night, or find out more about how to get involved are encouraged to get in touch.

A JustGiving page has also been set up for those who wish to sponsor Christian, Marie, and their daughters as they take on the inflatable course.
