The Bowel Cancer Support Group has funded two Boston Electric waterfall back reclining patient armchairs for Dorothea Ward at George Eliot Hospital, bringing improved comfort and support to patients receiving cancer treatment.
John Turner, Chair of the Bowel Cancer Support Group, was joined by members Liz and Steve Upton, Lorraine Wilson, and ward staff including Louise Roberts, Team Leader/Clinical Nurse Specialist, to view one of the new chairs, while the other was already in use on a busy ward day.
Former patient Liz Upton tested the new chair and reflected on her own experience: “The existing chairs are comfortable, but the new chairs are far superior when it comes to comfort and support, which is essential when you spend many hours in them during treatment.”
Oncology Unit Manager Kay Fox also welcomed the addition, explaining: “These chairs are most welcome on our ward, helping us replace older chairs that are showing wear and tear. We are very grateful to the Bowel Cancer Support Group for funding these for our patients.”
Sharing her appreciation, Maria Holmes-Keeling, Fundraising Coordinator for George Eliot Hospital Charity, highlighted the ongoing impact of the group’s support: “The Bowel Cancer Support Group has funded numerous projects over the years to enhance patient care, and these new chairs are another fantastic example of their commitment to George Eliot Hospital.”
