George Eliot Hospital Charity would like to say a huge thank you to Om Gurung MBE for hosting two fantastic charity dinners at his Crossed Khukris Gurkha Restaurant on Sunday 20 September.
Both sittings were fully booked, with guests enjoying a delicious three-course meal, as well as a fantastic raffle and auction. Together, the events raised an incredible £1,300 for George Eliot Hospital Charity’s 30 for 30 campaign.
Om said “I was very happy to support the Dorothea Unit at George Eliot Hospital, which treats hundreds of local patients receiving chemotherapy and haematology care every week.”
The dinners brought together George Eliot Hospital staff and volunteers, their families and members of the local community, all to support Om and their local NHS hospital.
The Worshipful Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough, Cllr Colin Cape, also attended the midday dinner briefly. Former Mayor Cllr Bill Hancox and his good lady, Mrs Sheila Hancox, were also in attendance. Mrs Hancox kindly spoke about the importance of the Dorothea Unit and shared her own lived experience, highlighting the difference the unit makes to local patients and their families.
GEH Charity Fundraising Coordinator, Maria Holmes-Keeling, attended the evening session and said “Om is the perfect host, offering a great setting, wonderful staff and delicious food, and he is always so supportive of George Eliot Hospital Charity’s work.”
GEH Charity would like to extend a huge thank you to Om, his wonderful family and his amazing team for all their hard work in making the events such a great success.
Every pound raised is helping GEH Charity get closer to its £30,000 target to mark 30 years of care. The campaign will fund the replacement of all the specialist reclining treatment chairs for patients at the Dorothea Unit, helping to improve comfort for people receiving lengthy chemotherapy and haematology treatments.
