The Challenge

Arbury Ward staff approached George Eliot Hospital Charity seeking support to improve their staff room, which was no longer fit for purpose. The space lacked adequate seating, tables, storage, and basic facilities such as a microwave, kettle, and toaster. In its current condition, the room did not provide a suitable environment for staff to rest, reflect, or recharge during breaks, impacting wellbeing and morale.

The Solution

With support from George Eliot Hospital Charity, plans were made to upgrade the staff room into a modern, welcoming, and stress-free space. To help fund the improvements, Arbury Ward organised a Christmas raffle, raising £730. In addition, Our Lady and St Joseph Catholic Academy, where Ward Clerk, Julene Dale’s son
attends, held a ‘Number Day’ and raised a further £724.05 in support of the project.

The Results

Thanks to these combined fundraising efforts and George Eliot Hospital Charity new tables, chairs, benches with storage areas plus a microwave, kettle and toaster have been provided.

The staff room has been transformed into a comfortable and practical space that supports staff wellbeing, boosts morale, and allows colleagues to properly rest away from the clinical environment—helping them continue to deliver excellent patient care.
